We are currently recruiting families to help nurture and adopt out children we are experienced trauma as a result of abuse and neglect, as well as the trauma of being taken from families, relatives, friends and their communities.   We work with families and do not discriminate based on race, gender, sexual orientation, marital status (single parents are welcome) or any other federally protected class.


Being a foster parent is incredible rewarding but it isn't always easy.  When foster parents choose Crescent City Youth and Family Services, the deciding factor is most often out commitment to giving every parent the support they need to be successful.  Our training is extensive and our counselors are there for foster parents 24/7 to give advice, consultation and practical help.  We provide extensive training, monthly foster parent support groups and child therapy.

To become a CCYFS foster/adopt parent, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be at least 25 years of age
  • Be a legal resident of the United States
  • have a clean criminal record for at least five years and no history of abusing children
  • Have a high school diploma/GED
  • Be gainfully employed and financially stable with monthly income more than expenses
  • Have a driver's license, auto insurance and dependable transportation
  • Complete the Foster/Adopt Parent Application Process and submit all necessary documents
  • Complete required pre-service classes of parent training of approximately 35 hours
  • Become certified and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Your home must pass health and fire inspections
  • Have a bedroom of at least 80 square feet for one child or 40 square feet per child if sharing a room
  • Be willing a abide by a policy of no physical discipline
  • Pass a Home Study Assessment
  • Maintain annual training requirements of 30 hours/year for each parent
  • Be a responsible, mature adult capable of meeting the needs of children in care
